Have you ever wanted to be a museum curator? With this new virtual lesson plan, you and your middle or high school students can learn what it's like to create an exhibit from the ground up. This lesson plan tasks students with designing a new exhibit about the Waxpool General Store. It can be used as a group project, solo project, or in class activity.
The package includes four different pre-made sets, each centered around a different type of product sold at the Waxpool General Store. Each set consists of two photos of artifacts, two written primary sources, and a secondary source. The lesson plan is also equipped with a step by step guide that walks students through the process of curating an exhibit, from initial artifact investigation all the way through the exhibit design process. A teacher guide and background information on the Store are also included.
This lesson plan is offered as a virtual download for $25. The lesson plan may be shared with grade level teachers at your school, but we ask that you do not share beyond these immediate colleagues. Extra fees apply for pre-printed resources. Email rachel@lhfarmmuseum.org with questions or to purchase.
